LISBON — A 126-year old statue has been reduced to rubble after a tourist climbed up the free-standing structure to take a selfie.
The Dom Sebastiao statue was in honor of Potrtugal’s King between 1554 and 1578 and stood in the Rossio Railway station in Lisbon before being turned into a pile of rocks.
The 24-year old tourist tried to flee, but was later caught by ****** and will face the courts for destruction of public property. His nationality has not been revealed.
Infrastructure Portugal said it currently doesn’t know when it would be fixed.
