SINGAPORE — The Zika ***** has arrived in Singapore, with some 41 cases confirmed by Singapore’s Ministry of Health (MOH). The cases were locally transmitted. “They are not known to have travelled to Zika-affected areas recently, and are thus likely to have been infected in Singapore,” said a statement from the ministry.
A local man who had travelled to Brazil and contracted the ***** was Singapore’s first imported case of Zika, back in May.
These new cases have all cropped up in the city-state’s Aljunied Crescent neighbourhhod, however the MOH is remaining watchful as the ***** could spread.
Zika is now in 58 countries and territories, according to the ***** Health Organization and Centers for ******* Control. The WHO is also keeping a close eye on Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam and the Philippines.
