******’s second largest *******, Transaero, has been grounded after Aeroflot pulled out of a take-over deal earlier this month.
The ******* had been struggling financially, with a take-over by the state-controlled Aeroflot being the last hope for the *******. The deal collapsed at the start of the month and two creditors began bankruptcy proceedings.
******’s Ministry of Transport announced the *******’s operating certificate was cancelled yesterday, citing there was a ****** to passenger safety.
Following the news of the collapse, Aeroflot today announced it would introduce four 747s and 10 **********-800s to help fill the demand. Of Transaero’s 141 routes, 56 have been transferred to Aeroflot and its subsidiary Rossiya Airlines.
