REGINA — ********** says an unclaimed cellphone was behind a decision to divert a Toronto-bound flight from Edmonton to Regina.
The Airbus A320, with 136 passengers, landed in the Saskatchewan capital at 9:25 a.m. on Wednesday after the phone was found on board.
Regina Airport Authority CEO Dick Graham said the airport activated its ********* response procedures, which included calling ****** and the **** department.
Graham said the response matched the situation at hand and went by the book.
********** said the plane was diverted “strictly out of an abundance of caution.”
It took off again shortly after a security check and refuelling.
