Eurostar faces more delays after Channel Tunnel power supply issue

LONDON – Rail passengers between England and France are facing delays after power-supply problems in the Channel Tunnel.

Rail operator Eurostar said trains between London, Paris and Brussels were being ******* by about an hour Wednesday. It’s the latest in a series of problems to hit the tunnel since Saturday.

The 50-kilometre (31-mile) Channel Tunnel, which is the only land link between ******* and the European continent, is used by passenger and freight trains, and conveys road vehicles by rail.

The service has been plagued by problems since a smoky load on the back of a truck triggered an alarm, prompting a shutdown of all services.

Operators tried to resume service Sunday but were hit by a power failure.

Eurotunnel said Wednesday’s delays were the result of “a power supply line issue.”
