British Airways pilots back down on Sept. 27 strike action

British Airways to offer Toronto flights to Gatwick starting May 2018

TORONTO — British Airways is adding new flights between Toronto and London Gatwick starting May 1, 2018. The new service, which will run Tuesdays, Fridays and Sundays in addition to the twice daily services to London Heathrow, will be operated by B777s with a choice of three cabins: Club ***** business class, ***** Traveller Plus premium economy and ***** Traveller.

The new flights are available for sale now.

The Toronto route is one of two new transatlantic routes for the ******* out of Gatwick next summer. Flights between ********* and Gatwick have been added as well.

The new flight to Toronto will be British Airways’ first flight to Canada from Gatwick, and follows the recent introduction of new long-haul routes to Oakland and Fort Lauderdale in the US.

The additional two destinations takes the number of new routes introduced at Gatwick in 2017 to six and the total number of routes flying from Gatwick to 71, 24 of them long-haul and 47 short-haul.

“Gatwick has always offered a great range of long-haul destinations, but adding Toronto and ********* to the summer schedule will take the number of transatlantic routes to 21, making Canada, the US and the Caribbean more accessible than ever before,” said Sean Doyle, British Airways’ Director of Networks and Alliances.

“It’s particularly exciting to be adding Canada to the list of places our customers will be able to explore from Gatwick, and we look forward to welcoming our Canadian customers in to London.”

Fares on the Toronto flights in ***** Traveller for summer 2018 start at £453 return.

British Airways moved into the modern facilities at Gatwick’s south terminal at the start of the year.

Club ***** passengers will also have access to a new lounge area at Gatwick, which opened in spring 2017 as part of the *******’s multi-million pound investment.

The ******* says four hundred million pounds will be spent on Club ***** with an emphasis on improved catering and sleep, and a new seat in the future.
