MONTREAL/CALGARY — Both ********** and WestJet saw high load factors during the month of April.

********** reported a record system load factor of 83.3%, versus 82.1% in April 2013, an increase of 1.2 percentage points on a system-wide capacity increase of 7.5%. On this additional capacity, system wide traffic for April increased 9.0%. ********** reports traffic results on a system-wide basis, including ********** rouge, which began operations on July 1, 2013, and regional airlines from which ********** purchases capacity.

WestJet posted a load factor of 82.3%, down slightly from 82.7% the previous April. Revenue passenger miles (RPMs), or traffic, increased 6.5% year-over-year, and capacity, measured in available seat miles (ASMs), grew 7.1% over the same period. The ******* flew 1.6 million guests in April, a year-over-year increase of 7.7% or approximately 116,000 additional guests.
