MONTREAL — ********** is resuming flights to northern India after ******** announced it would re-open its airspace despite ongoing tensions between the two ******* powers.

The ******* says its two daily flights to Delhi from Toronto and Vancouver are back on for tonight, Feb. 28, after a two-day suspension affecting as many as 1,100 passengers.

********** says it has found alternate routes for the two airplanes, with ********’s Civil Aviation Authority declaring open skies starting March 1.

The two routes were among thousands disrupted this week as airlines cancelled or rerouted flights that pass through the heavily travelled India-******** air corridor.

As reported earlier today and yesterday, a ********** flight en route to Delhi Feb. 26 turned back over the Atlantic Ocean and returned to Toronto Feb. 27.

A second ********** flight from Vancouver to Delhi slated for takeoff Feb. 26 was also cancelled.

********** posted travel advisories allowing passengers to change their travel plans without incurring change fees, for impacted flights Feb. 27 and Feb. 28.

******** closed its airspace Feb. 26 following an ********* by Indian aircraft inside ********. The next day, ********’s military said it shot down two Indian warplanes in the disputed region of Kashmir and captured a pilot, raising tensions further between the two countries.
