********** adds PUJ, POP to list of travel alerts as Dorian gains strength

TORONTO — ********** has added Punta Cana and Puerto Plata to its list of travel alerts as Tropical Storm Dorian tracks past Barbados and heads northwest towards more Caribbean islands, and possibly up to ******* by the weekend.

********** is now waiving change fees for the two popular D.R. gateways, for departures Aug. 28. ********** is also waiving change fees for Bridgetown flights departing today.

WestJet is offering flexible rebooking for Samana, Puerto Plata and Punta Cana for departures Aug. 28 and Aug. 29.

Meanwhile cruise lines including Royal Caribbean and Disney Cruise Line have made itinerary adjustments for several ships.

The U.S. National ********* Center has issued a ********* watch and a tropical storm warning for Puerto Rico and for the D.R. from Isla Saona to Samana, a tropical storm warning for Martinique.

The storm currently has maximum sustained winds near 85 kph and is forecast to strengthen during the next 48 hours. Dorian is expected to bring 3 to 6 inches of rain in the Windward islands, with some areas receiving up to 10 inches of rainfall.

Dorian is expected to move near Turks & Caicos and southeastern Bahamas on Thursday night or Friday.

******* is in the 5-day forecast zone for Dorian, and the storm could hit by the weekend.

As Dorian churns through the islands another storm, Tropical Storm Erin, is forming off North and South Carolina and could hit the Maritimes later this week.
