Vending machines that spit out short stories make their way to London

LONDON — Few of us have the time to curl up with a good book. To help bookworms get in some much-needed reading time, London has unveiled vending machines that spit out free fiction for *********.

Available in the neighbourhood of Canary Wharf, these Short Story Stations by tech company Short Edition came about after research from the Canary Wharf Group, which found that over a third of all Brits have failed to finish a book in the last year due to lack of time, reports the Telegraph.

But the research also showed that 70% of Brits would rather pick up a book than scroll on social media – there’s hope for humankind yet!

The machines include thousands of titles ranging from modern ***** and romance to condensed versions of classics, and take anywhere from one to five minutes to read. Stories are printed on eco-friendly papyrus paper, which makes reading them a guilt-free pleasure!

If the idea sounds familiar, it’s because the dispensers have already made their way to the Lyon-Saint-Exupéry Airport in France, as well as Canada’s own Edmonton International Airport, where it launched in January 2018.

Here’s hoping they become a worldwide phenomenon!
